Only in London...

...can you find a vanilla white man sitting on the Tube (subway) in a business suit and briefcase, blasting Tony Matterhorn's "Dutty Wine" out of his Ipod...only to have that followed by Mr. Vegas's "Hot Wuk"!!!!!!

Gotta love globalization (okay, only the good parts...)! :)

The BackPack Files: I Heart Zara (and Sephora, too)

Since I've moved across the pond, I've done a fair amount of traveling. Okay, a lot of traveling. It's more than just an urge to take over the world, though, as I'm pretty interested in seeing what life is like for black people on other parts of the globe and even more interested in finding out how they're treated when they come to places where black folk just don't go.

More on that later. I'll tell you now that it ain't pretty. Surprise, surprise.

Anyway, because I've made a commitment to myself that I will curb my shop-a-holic ways, so as to make more world travel feasible, I have settled for searching high and low for "every Zara and Sephora in the world". Here's what we have so far:

Zara in Prague, near Wenceslas Square

...and just across the street, *gasp*!!! My other favorite store, which closed down in New York City (in favor of a Juicy Store. Just...no...)

Sephora in Nice, where one very fat cochon ran into me, causing my camera to fall and break. I'm so obsessed with pictures that I immediately went down the street and paid full price for a new one...in Euros.

Zara Monaco. It was no more post than any other Zara, which was slightly disappointing.

Zara Cannes.

Zara Nice.

Sephora in Paris, on the Champs Elysees. It was GINORMOUS.

...a few doors down, Zara Paris

Zara Barcelona, on the beautiful Passeig de la Gracia, the Spanish Champs Elysees. The prices in this particular store were far lower than any other Zara I've ever been to, and they had new merch way before the other stores...which makes sense, since Zara's Spanish...

I didn't get a chance to find the Zara in Marrakesh, since I was too busy being harrassed and oppressed by Moroccan men, but alas...

Istanbul is up next...
